On this webpage students are shown pictures of different examples of buildings they can construct. In constructing their own buildings they can explore the shape and size of buildings. As the class completes their buildings they can place them together on a table covered with paper. They can draw roads, streets, and invent their own parks.
Now that you have looked at the different kinds of buildings, their shapes, the spaces they use, and what they look like when they form a community, you can make your own. Gather the materials you will need to make a building.
You may start with construction paper, scissors, glue stick, tape, a box, or a milk carton. There are many other things you can use to make your building.
When you have the things you need for making a building they may look like this.
Take the building you have made and place them with those made by your classmates. Add streets and benches if you like. Create your own community
