Lesson 1 - Generalization and Rationale

Generalization

Contact between Aboriginal People and fur traders brought changes to the region.

Rationale

The focus of the following lesson is to introduce students to an Aboriginal community in Alberta, with specific focus on one of the first three fur trading forts. Students must have the opportunity to recognize the importance of Aboriginal People to the history of the province. Students will also gain insight into how people existed during the fur trade and settlement era.
