Welcome to Alberta's Petroleum Heritage Edukit!
On February 13, 1947, government officials, executives of
Imperial Oil and members of the community witnessed Leduc No. 1 blowing into
production. That well put Alberta on the oil map of the world.
This online resource is designed to be a educational tool for learning more
about Alberta's
rich petroleum heritage. It features teaching units, stories, historical
photographs, audio, a WebQuest and related documents that show how the
importance of Alberta's natural resources was built on what has happened in the past.
This educational kit (aka edukit) shows the connections between people,
science and technology, historical events and community concern. These connections have
shaped Alberta's history.
